CT May Owe You Money, Here's How To Find Out

$888 million is up for grabs. A total of 53,000 new names appeared on the "big list" recently. See if you have unclaimed money.

HARTFORD, CT — The State Treasury office recently added 53,000 individuals and businesses to the CT Big List for people who are owed unclaimed money. The state takes assets such as unclaimed last paychecks and dormant bank accounts for safe keeping.

Last year the state returned $58 million to more than 18,000 rightful owners. It was 42 percent more than the previous fiscal year. In total the state is holding $888 million in unclaimed property across a list of 1.6 million names.

“We have millions of dollars waiting to be returned to owners,” Treasurer Denise Nappier said. “Found
money is always good! Check www.CTBigList.com and Find What’s Yours! And even if you don’t see your own name on the list, you might notice a relative who has passed away with unclaimed property waiting to be claimed by their heirs.”
