CT Power Outages Town-By-Town: Less Than 3,000 Still Without Power

Thousands of homes and business are without power on Friday. Here's the town-by-town breakdown of who's still in the dark.

CONNECTICUT — The power stations in Connecticut are pretty much back in business, after an early round of outages surprised thousands of homes and business at the start of their work day Friday.

Eversource officials reported 2,836 customers without power, or about 0.22 percent of their total base, coming up on midday. That's a big drop from the 20,863 in the dark just before 9 a.m.

Thunderstorms barreled across the state early Friday morning, and the National Weather Service said showers and storms will taper off later this morning. Some remaining storms could still produce heavy rain and possibly hail and strong wind gusts.

In the afternoon hours, the sun is forecast to make an appearance and then from Saturday through Thursday it looks like largely sunny skies and comfortable temperatures.

"By noon, the front will be moving east of the 395 corridor and out of Connecticut," WFSB 3 TV meteorologists said. "This will limit our risk for any other showers or storms. The wind shifts out of the west, pulling drier air in. Sun develops through the afternoon and temperatures will be in the 80s. Temperatures will drop into the 50s by tomorrow."
