CT To Waive Credit Card State Agency Fees

New fees were set to go in effect July 1, but Gov. Ned Lamont is waiving them due to inflation, he said.

CONNECTICUT — Connecticut will waive credit card service fees for transacting with state agencies online.

Gov. Ned Lamont will direct the state Office of Policy and Management to waive the service fees due to inflation, he said.

“Each of us is feeling the pressure of inflation, and I am committed to reducing costs for businesses and residents where the law allows,” Lamont said in a statement. “By waiving these transaction fees, businesses and residents will save approximately $6 million.

Fees were scheduled to begin July 1 under a state law. The law also gives the secretary of OPM the power to waive the fees.

Lamont has directed OPM Secretary Jeffrey Beckham to waive the fees through the end of fiscal year 2023.

Agency fees impacted include: The Department of Motor Vehicles, Department of Consumer Protection, Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, and the Department of Public Health.
