Timeline For Thunderstorms, Downpours Released For CT On Monday
Here is a first-look at the July 4th holiday weekend forecast for Connecticut, which currently features some good and potentially bad news.
CONNECTICUT — WTNH News 8 chief Meteorologist Gil Simmons said we can expect "some rain and thunder coming through today!" In a graphic he shared on social media, it appears the potentially stormy weather will arrive after noon and there is a chance of storms through the early evening hours.
The National Weather Service said we can expect rain showers and thunderstorms Monday afternoon and evening, and some storms "could produce heavy rain." Once the rain and thunderstorms move on, much better weather arrives for Tuesday through Friday.
"With a fairly deep warm cloud layer and a moist column, there is a risk for heavy downpours that could lead to minor flooding in urban and poor drainage areas. WPC has outlined a marginal risk for excessive rain across the area," the weather service wrote, but added that while thunderstorms are possible Monday, none should rise to the level of severe storms.
