Final Christmas Weekend Traffic Stats Released / COVID-19 Town-By-Town School Cases, Vaccination Rates / 7 Escape Apartment Complex Fire

Good Monday morning Connecticut,

Connecticut State Police responded to more than 300 accidents on state roadways over Christmas weekend, including a fatal crash that killed a 38-year-old man on I-84 in Southbury on Christmas morning.

Police received 3,199 calls for service from midnight on Dec. 24 through 11:59 p.m. on Dec. 26, according to final traffic stats released by Connecticut State Police on Monday morning.

Tyler John Santoro, 38, of Southbury was killed in a two-vehicle rollover crash that happened near Exit 16 on I-84 West in Southbury around 10:40 a.m. on Saturday. He was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital after the crash where he was pronounced dead, according to police.

The two occupants of the other vehicle suffered unknown injuries in the crash, police said. The crash remains under investigation.

2 Killed In Hartford Crash Early Christmas Morning

A crash in Hartford early Saturday morning resulted in the deaths of two men in their 20s, according to WTNH News-8. The one-car wreck occurred at about 4 a.m. at the intersection of Main and Montville streets.

Two men, both 22 years old, were extricated by firefighters and later pronounced dead. The victims were driver Eustace Chase, of Manchester, and passenger Justin Joseph, of Hartford, according to WTNH News-8.

Investigation into the accident is ongoing.
