CONNECTICUT — Former Fox61 Meteorologist Dan Amarante, who left the station in the spring after 11 years, has landed a new job.

Amarante is now part of the ABC News weather team, working out of Manhattan.

Among his responsibilities are creating behind-the-scenes graphics and forecasting.

"So far, I've worked a lot with Ginger Zee and the Good Morning America crew in Times Square," Amarante wrote about the new job. "I have a ton of respect for her and what she's done for weather and climate literacy across the country."

A native of Cheshire, Amarante's love of meteorology dates back to childhood, when he was reading weather books and venturing out of the house as a kid during thunderstorms, according to his old bio.

He graduated from Western Connecticut State University, where he obtained a bachelor's degree in meteorology, and he got his professional start at Springfield, Massachusetts-based WGGB ABC40/FOX6.

Next up, Amarante hopes to add some nightly news to his morning news duties.

"I look forward to contributing to World News Tonight as well in the coming weeks," he wrote. "Cheers to new beginnings!"
