ID Of Skeletal Remains Released In Thompson Case: Reports
The identity of a woman whose remains were found in Thompson last year have been released, according to reports.

THOMPSON, CT — Skeletal remains found in Thompson last year have been identified. The remains were of Alicia Balderston, a Plainfield woman, according to WFSB 3-TV.
The remains were found on Lowell Davis Road in Thompson on Oct. 17, 2024. Balderston was reported missing in Plainfield in November 2023, WFSB 3-TV reported.
Balderston, 33, was last known to be living at the Elite Inn on East Main Street in Plainfield's Moosup section, according to NBC CT.

The cause of death has not yet been determined.
State police's Major Crime Division is conducting the death investigation.

The news comes as there have been numerous "human remains" cases recently across the region. These have sparked rumors about a connection between the cases, though police have stated repeatedly that no such connection exists.
This includes skeletal remains found in Killingly in April, which were determined to be a man 25 to 45 years old.

Other cases include the death of a Groton woman, whose torso was found in a suitcase near a cemetery. A man was charged with murder in that case.

In a New Haven case, a 59-year-old woman went missing in September. Her remains were found in a wooded area, but police determined there was no foul play in that case.

And last week, police identified the woman who was found dead in a New Haven skate park Friday morning. The female has been identified as Jasmine Wilkes, 31, of New Haven. The cause and manner of death are pending from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, police said.

The remains of a woman identified as Paige Fannon, 35, of West Islip, New York, were also found in Norwalk, People reported. Police said there was no indication of foul play in her death.
