Legendary CT Radio Personality Lands New Role On TV

She retired in June from The River 105.9 FM after nearly 20 years.

CONNECTICUT — Beloved former Connecticut radio host Renee DiNino didn't stay retired too long.

DiNino retired in June from The River 105.9 FM after nearly 20 years, but has returned to the airwaves, this time at WFSB-TV, reporting, doing community projects and canine stories.

"Feeling blessed to know chances like this don’t come along very often and the opportunity ahead of me and my work for advocacy, community, animals, law enforcement & K9’s will now get a monster platform is something I couldn’t say no to!!" DiNino wrote on Facebook about the new role.

When she left The River, DiNino did not share what she planned to do next. At the time, The Laurel speculated that she may be in line for a television gig, possibly on the WFSB-TV morning newscast, following Nalepa's switch from early mornings to a 9 a.m. telecast.

DiNino has been a part-time member of the Channel 3 news family for years, where, among other things, she did traffic and weather, and was a fill-in during staffers' vacations.

Nalepa, who has known DiNino for years, is excited for her to join WFSB full-time.

"I can’t tell you how many photos I have on my phone of the 3 of [us] throughout the years…" Nalepa wrote in a caption of a photo of her, DiNino and Haney she posted on Facebook. "But today’s photo was extra special because it was taken right after Renee DiNino announced her new role here at WFSB - Channel 3. So excited to see this lady EVERY DAY now at work!! Congratulations Renee - you are so deserving of it all."
