Popular CT News Anchor To Leave Job For DOT
Fox 61 reporter and news anchor Samaia Hernandez is signing off, according to a report.
CONNECTICUT — Fox 61 reporter and news anchor Samaia Hernandez is leaving her position to take a job with the Connecticut Department of Transportation, The Laurel reported. Hernandez recently left the station to become primary spokesperson for the DOT.
Hernandez joined Fox 61 in November 2022 following a three-plus-year stint with WTNH News-8.
Hernandez is a news veteran, having worked at Connecticut Public Broadcasting, Tribune Company, and even at Patch, according to her LinkedIn profile.

Current DOT spokesperson Josh Morgan was promoted to communications director, The Laurel reported.
In other recent changes at Fox 61, news presenter and reporter Ben Goldman announced he would be leaving the station in August to "start a new chapter." Gaby Molina, a veteran reporter at Fox 61, left in October after four years at the station.

Other Connecticut news stations have experienced changes recently as well. In July, WTNH News-8 announced that news anchor Ann Nyberg would be moving from the late night newscasts to the afternoon and evening telecasts. Anchor Lisa Carberg replaced Nyberg at 10 and 11 p.m.
