Popular TV News Reporter Departs CT Station

He had been at the New Haven-based station for the past five years.

Ken Houston, a popular reporter at WTNH-TV, has left the station, part of a recent round of layoffs at the New Haven-based station, The Laurel reported. His last day was Good Friday.

Houston joined Channel 8 in March 2021, following a stint as an anchor at WILX-TV In Lansing, Michigan.

His career has been varied, having worked at television stations in Buffalo and Memphis, Tennessee, among others, and also serving as a press secretary in the New York state Senate.

A class act!" wrote colleague Alyssa Rae Taglia on Facebook. "Best of luck to my buddy, Ken Houston! We will miss you! Send him love!"

At Channel 8, Houston was part of the station's Good Morning Connecticut, where he worked with Taglia and Laura Hutchinson, among others.

"This guy is ALWAYS ready to smile and have a great time on any assignment and I’ll miss him so much!" Hutchinson wrote on Facebook about Houston. "So many laughs. Amazing storyteller, anchor and FRIEND! We’ll miss you at WTNH News 8, Ken Houston!"
