Hiker, 23, Dies After Fall At Sleeping Giant State Park In Hamden
A 23-year-old hiker has died after falling at Sleeping Giant State Park in Hamden, according to officials.
HAMDEN, CT ā A 23-year-old man has died after falling at Sleeping Giant State Park in Hamden on Monday, according to officials.
The Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection Dispatch Center received a call around 11:45 a.m. on April 6 reporting a hiker who fell from an unmarked trail in Sleeping Giant State Park, according to DEEP spokesperson Bill Flood.
Emergency crews responded to the park and found a 23-year-old man who sustained injuries as a result of the fall, according to Flood.

āThe hiker was found in the woods and unfortunately succumbed to his injuries at the scene,ā Flood wrote in a news release. āDEEP Environmental Conservation Police (EnCon) are leading the investigation into this incident. As a matter of protocol, EnCon is working with the Stateās Attorneyās Office in New Haven and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, which will determine cause and manner of death. Preliminary investigation indicates that this fatality was accidental.

The victimās identity is not being released at this time, according to Flood.
