Happily, hospitalizations have continued to decline since the end of last week. The number of beds occupied by COVID-19 patients in the state dropped overnight, by 17. That brings the current number of Connecticut residents hospitalized with the virus as of Tuesday afternoon to 363.

As of Friday, 73.1 percent of the total Connecticut population has received at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine, and 65.6 percent are fully vaccinated. Not everyone is eligible for the vaccine, of course. Of those residents 18 years of age and older, 85.2 percent have received once dose, and 77 percent are fully vaccinated, according to a state profile report released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Friday.
