CONNECTICUT — High school basketball games in Connecticut will become more fast-paced beginning in the 2023-24 season, as the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference (CIAC) Board of Control has voted to adopt a shot clock.

A 35-second shot clock will be utilized during both boys and girls basketball games. The shot clock is only mandatory for the varsity level, and will be optional for the JV and freshman levels, according to a statement from the CIAC.

An adult must run the shot clock at the varsity level, but it is not mandatory for an adult to run it at the JV and freshman levels, according to the CIAC.
