Snow, Sleet To Impact Tuesday's Morning Commute In Connecticut
Here are the new details on the wintry weather that is in our forecast and when to expect the worst.

On Sunday, we wrote about the Tuesday morning commute and the concern that snow and sleet could cause slippery conditions. It now appears while there is still some concern about slippery travel concerns in certain spots, overall the precipitation won't be a big deal.
Along the Interstate 95 corridor any brief mix of snow and sleet will change to all rain before dawn, while inland sections of Southern Connecticut may see a "light wintry mix of precipitation" and there is potential for a glaze of ice..."
No snow is expected to accumulate in Southern Connecticut. In Northern Connecticut, some snow and sleet is expected after 4 a.m. until 10 a.m. but no real accumulation is expected though there may be some isolated slippery spots.

The wintry precipitation will change to all rain by late morning and ends by mid afternoon. A tenth to a quarter of an inch of rain is possible.
A coating of snow should do it in most towns tomorrow morning with up to an inch in the NW Hills. Watch for a glaze of freezing rain during the morning drive toward the Mass border. #nbcct pic.twitter.com/k2q1k6LtFR

If you're hoping for snow, our next chance at real accumulating snow is Sunday but that is far from a certainty.

Tonight's GFS hitting the sauce with a blizzard for Sunday in eastern New England. Not much to say at this point besides that the setup is worth watching - all options on the table including big hit and total miss. More right now on @NBCConnecticut #nbcct pic.twitter.com/LEnQb3ulDG

Even if the weekend storm doesn't work out the Euro Ensembles are juicy in the long range with two separate snow chances in the D10-D15 window. Looking like winter is back. #nbcct pic.twitter.com/0l1I63IaBG

Original story from Sunday night: We've been so snow-deprived in Connecticut this winter thus far that the mention of an inch or so of snow in the forecast is actually somewhat noteworthy. And that is exactly what we're looking at late Monday and early Tuesday.
And while no one is expected to see more than an inch or two of snow from this "storm," the timing may be a cause for concern. Snow is forecast to begin after midnight and continue into early Tuesday where it will mix with sleet and then change to rain by mid-morning statewide.
Snow is not a real major concern, but the period of sleet that is forecast could lead to slippery driving conditions.
Before we get to the wintry weather chance, you'll notice temps have dropped like a rock this evening as the wind continues to gust. Temps will drop into the teens tonight and Monday will be chilly with high temps near the freezing mark.
This looks like a chilly week with temps largely in the low 30s and dropping into the teens at night.
Here is what the National Weather Service says specifically about the wintry weather.
"A frontal system will approach the area through Monday night, bringing some light precipitation Monday night. Precipitation will start off as a wintry mix most places ... The changeover will progress north into Tuesday morning, with most areas seeing plain rain by mid-morning. Up to an inch of snow is possible, especially across the higher elevation inland areas, with no accumulation expected along the coast. A glaze of ice is also possible...."
Tricky forecast. Plenty of moisture between Monday night-Tuesday morning and Tuesday night-Wednesday morning, but we'll be walking a fine like of snow vs. rain and potentially a period of freezing rain. Good times. pic.twitter.com/MSaiuALXCN

Back to normal tonight with temps in the teens. Tomorrow is cold and we do have a bit of snow in the forecast. It could cause a few issues for school on TUESDAY morning. See you at 6 with the timing/totals! pic.twitter.com/LMPbww3S1X
