Star-Studded Field Heading to Travelers Championship

CROMWELL, CT — One of the deepest big-name fields in tournament history will come to the TPC River Highlands next week as the PGA TOUR's yearly stop in Connecticut returns, the Travelers Championship.

Nine of the top 10 players in the Official World Golf Rankings are scheduled to compete, led by No. 1 Rory McIlroy. Also on hand will be Jon Rahm (No. 2), Justin Thomas (No. 3), Brooks Koepka (No. 4), Dustin Johnson (No. 5), Patrick Reed (No. 6), Patrick Cantlay (No. 7), Webb Simpson (No. 9) and Xander Schauffele (No. 10).

Ten former winners in Cromwell are entered in the tournament, which carries a $1.332 prize for the champion and a total purse of $7.4 million. Defending champion Chez Reavie, who finished four strokes ahead of Keegan Bradley and Zack Sucher en route to his first TOUR win since 2008, will seek to become just the second back-to-back champion in tournament history (Phil Mickelson, 2001-2002). Other past champions in the field are Bubba Watson (2018, 2015, 2010), Jordan Spieth (2017), Russell Knox (2016), Kevin Streelman (2014), Marc Leishman (2012), Stewart Cink (1997, 2008), Hunter Mahan (2007) and Fairfield native J.J. Henry (2006).

A total of 25 major championship winners, holding a collective 41 major titles, are slated for action, led by Mickelson (5), Koepka (4), McIlroy (4), Spieth (3), Vijay Singh (3), Watson (2) and Zach Johnson (2). Those 25 champions have accounted for 12 Masters, 11 U.S. Open, 11 PGA and seven British Open crowns.

Traditionally, the Travelers is among the most well-attended events on the PGA TOUR schedule. However, due to restrictions brought on by the coronavirus pandemic, no spectators will be allowed at the golf course this year. The television-only tournament, which runs June 25-28, can be seen on the Golf Channel (3–6 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 1–3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday) and on CBS (3–6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday).

Travelers Championship officials have released the full player field; the final two spots will be earned Monday in an open qualifier at Ellington Ridge Country Club. The full field listing is available here.
