BROOKFIELD, CT — The trial of an Oakville man charged in the death of a schoolteacher on Candlewood Lake last summer has been continued to July 10, the News-Times is reporting.

Gary Morrone, 66, is facing a charge of criminally negligent homicide and first-degree reckless boating in the death of Wanda Tirado, 38, of Waterbury.

The state's attorney announced the court is awaiting new evidence — an FBI lab report regarding undisclosed evidence — during Morrone's pretrial hearing at Danbury Superior Court on Wednesday.

Investigators concluded that Tirado was killed when she was struck by the propeller of Morrone's boat while both were out together on the lake. Morrone has pleaded not guilty to criminally negligent homicide, reckless boating charges, and a charge for failure to report a boating accident.
