'Unsettled' Weather Returns, Major Changes Forecast For CT

Rain, temperature swings are predicted for Connecticut, get the latest details.

A mild and pleasant day today will give way to heavy rain tonight and into early Friday, according to meteorologists.

The National Weather Service predicts today will be the warmest day of the week, then an approaching cold front will bring changes to the weather pattern.

Expect high temperatures to reach into the 60s today around Connecticut, with partly sunny skies, according to the National Weather Service.

WFSB is predicting temperatures today will make it feel “more like late April,” with highs reaching the upper 60s inland and low 60s on the shoreline.

Following the pleasant weather today, the National Weather Service forecasts a “widespread soaking rainfall tonight into Friday.”

WFSB meteorologists say today’s dry spell will be “short-lived.”

“A more substantial round of rain arrives this evening, lasting through tomorrow morning,” WFSB reports. “As we see it now, commute impacts will be minimal with the heaviest rain falling overnight. We’ll start Friday with lingering showers.”

The precipitation will dissipate early Friday, and then it will be much cooler, with highs in the upper 40s, according to the National Weather Service.

The weekend is expected to be dry, with chilly temperatures on Saturday, when highs will be around 40. Sunday will be warmer than Saturday, and highs will get into the upper 40s during the day Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

WFSB is predicting a “dry and fairly bright” weekend.

“The only hiccup is that temps will be running a little below average, with highs between 40 and 45 Saturday then in the mid to upper 40s Sunday,” WFSB reports.

Friday: Showers likely, mainly before 8 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a steady temperature around 48. North wind 8 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Friday Night: A slight chance of rain between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m., then a slight chance of snow after 11 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 29. Calm wind becoming north around 6 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 41. Northwest wind 9 to 11 mph.

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 28.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 48.

Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 26. North wind 5 to 7 mph.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 39. Northwest wind 9 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
