AVON, CT — Two of the Farmington Valley’s most experienced and recognized accounting firms are combining forces to create a stronger firm with a much broader reach. As of Jan. 1, 2018, Shein, Cohen, Palmer & Company, LLC and Howard L. Page & Company LLC, both of Avon, will combine under the new name Palmer Latko Ledas Page.
For decades, both firms have specialized in serving niches of privately owned businesses in Connecticut as well as other states. The new firm will have business clients and experience serving clients in virtually every kind of privately held business.
Palmer Latko Ledas Page will serve more than 2,000 clients in Connecticut and across the country from one office at 20 Tower Lane, Avon. The new firm will function much like the former two accounting practices.

“The merger decision was easy,” said one of the principals, Gary C. Palmer. “Both firms realized how similar we were in so many ways—business philosophy, client relationships, policies and procedures, and more. We fit well together.”
Howard L. Page has provided comprehensive high quality accounting and tax preparation services for individuals and businesses since 1941. Shein, Cohen, Palmer established a similar practice in 1978. Together the firms anticipate expanding services for existing clients and offering a cost effective alternative for small businesses and individuals.

Palmer Latko Ledas Page will have 18 employees led by eight principals: Jerome S. Cohen, CPA; Richard A. Farina, CPA; Janet R. Ouellette, CPA; Jason W. Latko, CPA; David J. Ledas, CPA; Margaret A. Mayer, CPA; Gary C. Palmer, CPA, MST; and Diane E. Read, CPA.
“We expect that through this combination we will be the ideal size to meet the challenges ahead while continuing to provide the personal attention our clients deserve,” Farina said.
“A major goal is to make sure our clients experience little or no change during and after the merger,” Mayer said. “Every client will still have the same professionals working with them. Policies, practices, and procedures will also remain the same.”
“What clients appreciated about us before has just been taken up a notch or two,” Ledas said.
