Avon Chamber launches 'Local First' initiative

All residences and businesses in Avon were sent a Local First brochure with key tags and cards offering deals at chamber member businesses.

The Avon Chamber of Commerce is asking area residents to think “Local First” when shopping for goods and services.

“Local First” is the name of an initiative the chamber has launched to increase the visibility of its members and to offer benefits to the community. Mailings were recently sent to all residences and businesses in Avon containing a “Local First” brochure along with key tags and cards entitling the holder to deals at many chamber member businesses.

“People who live or work in Avon will have access to deals, discounts and perhaps, most importantly, information on local merchants, service providers, restaurants, lodging and more,” said William Raveis realtor Margo Ross, chairman of the chamber’s marketing committee. “Participating Avon Chamber member businesses benefit from a range of free advertising opportunities, while residents gain ways to save money on what they’re already buying – or always wanted to buy but didn’t dare – by supporting local businesses.”

The Local First brochure will not only provide information on participating chamber businesses and their discounts, but will also list all of the Avon Chamber’s approximate 350 members. It will also explain an upcoming drawing of prizes donated by Avon Chamber member sponsors. To enter the drawing, patrons need to visit a sponsor and show their key card.

Signs will be seen throughout the community in store fronts, offices and local shops, alerting card holders that they are “Local First” participants. To view a list of participating chamber member businesses as well as their discounts and promotions, go to www.AvonChamber.com and click on the “Local First” button. Check back often as new participants and offers are added regularly.
