Avon Nursing Home Among 6 Fined by State
The facility was cited for a pair of falls in 2014, one of which resulted in the death of a resident.

An Avon nursing home was among six in Connecticut who were recently fined by the Department of Public Health (DPH) in connection with patients falling, Kate Farrish of c-hit.org reported.
Avon Health Center, located at 652 West Avon Road, or Route 167, was cited for two incidents in March 2014.
In the first instance, a resident fell out of a mechanical lift when a clip holding a sling broke. The resident suffered a broken bone at the base of their skull and passed away six days later, the DPH reported.
