Avon Prime Meats & Flatbread Pizza support Dog Star Rescue

Last week Avon Prime Meats hosted their “Dog Days of Winter” fundraiser. The local butcher & gourmet grocer is known for giving back to the community, and this is one of the causes they support. Dog Star rescue is a locally founded rescue organization that brings dogs from the south, many of them from kill shelters. Dog Star places them in foster homes in the CT area until they find their “forever home” . Dog Star was created only a year ago and they have already placed over 200 dogs with adoptive families. Avon Prime joined forces with Flatbread Pizza (Canton, CT) and collected donations for a week. Avon Prime Meats added a $500 gift to the donations collected and presented Dog Star with $1,100. At this time, Dog Star had found 6 dogs from the south that were in life threatening danger. They needed treatment and shelter. With the results from this event, Dog Star was able to provide the needed services for the dogs to start a new life!
