Avon Public Library Digitizes History

Librarians and the Avon Historical society have been hard at work digitizing many of the library's offerings

From the Avon Public Library

We’ve turned something old into something new!

The Avon Free Public Library, in partnership with the Avon Historical Society, announces the launch of www.avonhistory.info, a website that contains digitized items from the Marion Hunter History Room. Over the past year, Reference Librarians and volunteers have selected materials to feature on the site. The library worked with technology consultant Adam Delaura to design and organize the website.

Library Director Glenn Grube indicates that “this project has just begun; it’s very exciting to watch this website grow. We have so many great treasures in the History Room, and digitizing them not only helps preserve Avon’s history, but provides greater exposure to the collection as well.”

This digital project only part of the collection. To view the rest of the collection, visit the Marion Hunter History Room, located at the Avon Free Public Library. The room is staffed by volunteers. To confirm availability before your visit, contact the Reference Department at 860-673-9712 ext 4.
