Avon Tapped For Hartford Foundation’s Community Funds

As one of 29 towns in the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving catchment area, Avon has been granted a $100,000 endowed community fund through the Foundation’s Greater Together Community Funds program. Greater Together Community Funds aim to help communities like Avon proactively find and fund improvements benefiting their town by supporting projects and programs that directly serve the community, encourage broad and inclusive civic engagement, and anchor the Hartford Foundation locally.

The Avon Greater Together Community Fund Advisory Committee was established in 2020 to facilitate participation in the grant process. The committee is asking all Avon residents to complete a survey to help identify areas of greatest need in our community and clarify some of the best ways Hartford Foundation’s Community Funds can be used to make Avon an even better place for all.

This short survey is confidential and should take no longer than 10 minutes to complete. It will be used only as a way to help the Avon Greater Together Community Fund Advisory Committee better understand the diverse needs of our town.

The Avon Greater Together Community Fund Advisory Committee also will hold focus groups to hear from a broad selection of residents on the needs they see for Avon. Residents who wish to participate in a focus group should contact Committee Chair Haleigh Guerrera at hmaccloy93@gmail.com.

The committee’s role is to design and lead an inclusive process to identify the needs of our community, and design a grantmaking process aimed at ensuring the Greater Together Community Funds have the greatest impact for the benefit of all Avon residents.
