Avon Village Center Phase 1 Complete

Tenants including Whole Foods will open their doors as the first phase of the project is complete.

AVON, CT — The first phase of Avon Village Center has been completed, according to a statement. A ribbon cutting was held this week for what's being described as a "live-work-play gathering space" on a 97-acre plot along Route 44.

Phase one included the completion of five new retail buildings totaling about 119,000 square feet along with road and utility infrastructure. It also includes professional space and medical office space.

Tenants include Whole Foods Market, Ivy Rehab, Wags Organic Pet Food, AT&T, Refresh CT, Whit Interiors, and Straight to the Core.

“This is a true public-private partnership that has brought to life the vision of a town center in Avon over the last 20-years,” K. MacArthur Coates, president & CEO of Carpionato Group said in a statement. “COVID knocked us on our heels for a bit, but everyone including town leaders, the business community and Carpionato Group were determined to bring this project to completion to create a true generational change for Avon.”

Avon Town Council Chair Heather Maguire said the project has had a long history in town.

“This project was many years in the making. There were countless meetings, drawings, and discussions — mostly through the Avon Planning and Zoning Commission — that brought us to where we are today. The Town Council were all impressed with the planning and attention to detail that we see both at Whole Foods Market and the Center.”

Phase 2 is scheduled to begin next spring and will include retail, office and residential units. Carpionato Group received Master Plan approval from the Avon Town Council for this project in 2015.
