Chilean Suspect Charged In Connection With Avon Burglary: Police
Avon police Friday said they charged the same man caught by Canton police and charged by Simsbury police Aug. 6.

AVON, CT — A suspect from Chile charged in connection with a high-profile burglary in Simsbury this past week has now been charged by Avon police for a similar crime.
The Avon Police Department Friday announced it has charged Crispulo Lizardo Olmos-Silva, 65, who was identified by his Chilean passoport, in connection with an Avon incident last Sunday, Aug. 6.
According to the APD Friday, at about 1:06 p.m. Sunday, Aug.6, Avon officers responded to a home burglar alarm on Far Hills Drive.

Avon police said, shortly after this incident, an attempted burglary was reported in nearby Simsbury, with the Simsbury Police Department describing a similar vehicle reported in connection with the Avon incident.
Eventually, the vehicle was discovered in Canton nearby, with Canton police apprehending Olmos-Silva and Simsbury police taking him into custody last Sunday.
Avon police said they were able to link Olmos-Silva to the Avon crime via the stolen property found in the suspect's possession.
As a result, Avon police charged Olmos-Silva and secured a warrant with a $500,000 bond.
Avon police said they believed Olmos-Silva is linked to a South American "theft group" targeting U.S. neighborhoods.
"The burglary modus operandi was similar to what Avon experience earlier in the year, when nine homes were burglarized by a South American Theft Group originating out of Chile," wrote the APD Friday.
Two other suspects remain at large in connection with the multi-town burglary spree last Sunday.
