Date Changed for AVFD Car Show to Benefit Fire Training Building

The show will still go on this weekend.

AVON, CT — Due to the potential for wet weather earlier in the weekend, the car show to benefit the nearly completed live fire training facility in Farmington has been postponed.

It will now take place Sunday, October 23, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 1690 New Britain Avenue in Farmington.

Show cars owners and spectators are encouraged to make a donation. All show cars are welcome – antique, classic, sports, and muscle, and there is no cut off year. Donations are appreciated. There will be food, a 50/50 raffle, show car door prizes, and antique and modern fire apparatus displays. Alcohol and pets are not allowed on the premises. For more information or to preregister a car or become a vendor, please email carshow@tunxishose.com or call (860) 675-2322.

“Even though construction of the live fire training facility is nearing completion, we still need to cover maintenance costs moving forward,” says Jamie DiPace, AVFD fundraising co-chair and Avon Fire Marshal. “Every dollar helps and we hope to see a great crowd at the car show.”

For those unable to attend, donations may be made via check made out to the Avon Volunteer Fire Department and mailed to the AVFD at 25 Darling Drive in Avon, CT 06001 or via credit card through the AVFD website at www.avonvfd.org.
