An exciting Halloween-themed zip line canopy experience at EMPOWER Leadership Sports in Middletown, CT
Middletown, CT (October 3, 2014) EMPOWER Leadership Sports & Adventure Center is home to the region’s most unique Fall adventure – Halloween Zip Trips! Starting on Friday October 17th, EMPOWER will be running Halloween-themed Zip Line Canopy Tours at their facility on South Main Street in Middletown at 6:30pm and 7:30pm. The high-flying nighttime adventures are on Thursday – Sunday nights with tour times of 6:30pm & 7:30pm.
EMPOWER’s Halloween Zip Trips take place on the 30 acre EMPOWER facility and feature 5 long and fast zip lines (ranging 200 – 650 feet in length) and 2 rickety suspension bridges; all 40 – 75 feet up in the tree tops of the Laurel Brook Forest! EMPOWER features Connecticut’s only true canopy tour and, each October, transforms it into a New England Halloween experience like no other. Brandon Howard, 17, from Portland commented, “I’ve done zip lining here (EMPOWER) during the day and it was fun, but the Halloween zips take it to a whole new level! It is pitch black in the woods, the zip lines were awesome, and there’s freaky music blaring; I was on edge the whole time!”

As the sun goes down, guests are led to a creepy camp site set in the woods for hot chocolate, candy and marshmallow roasting over a camp fire. Guests mingle with one another and their costume-clad EMPOWER guides all while gaining the courage to take on the spooky aerial adventure. Before long, the group is led to the start of the canopy course by their guides who will take care of all the safety procedures and ensure that the participants are playing safely throughout the 90 minute trip. As the zip liners progress through the course, they find themselves further and further engulfed in the darkness of the forest canopy. Hearts are pumping as guests complete their 3rd zip line and prepare for two creaky sky bridges; which are a bit more challenging without daylight. EMPOWER’s General Manager Dan Jaskot notes “anytime you take away someone’s ability to see clearly, you create a fear of the ‘unknown’; and the Halloween zip trips are a perfect mix of fun, excitement, nervousness and fear. This experience is great for those who love Halloween and love adventure!”
