BRIDGEPORT, CT - A Waterbury man was sentenced to eight years in prison for committing a series of robberies in Connecticut, New Hampshire and Massachusetts. Zachary Provost, 33, was convicted of robbing banks, convenience stores, gas stations and pharmacies in a number of towns across New England.
According to a statement from the US Attorney's Office, Provost entered a Key Bank at 232 W. Main St. in Avon on Dec. 6, 2017 and handed a teller a note stating: “I have a gun, hundreds, fifties and twenties and no ones and no dye pack.”
Provost then lifted his sweatshirt to reveal what appeared to be a firearm in his waistband. The teller handed over $1053 to Provost, who fled the scene in a vehicle drive by another man.
