Proposed Avon School Budget Would Increase Budget, Add More AP and Chinese Classes

Superintendent Gary Mala proposed the budget earlier this week.

The proposed school budget for next school year would increase the budget by 1.72 percent while increasing the number of advanced placement courses and expanding Chinese language instruction

Superintendent Gary Mala presented the budget request to the Board of Education Tuesday, according to the Hartford Courant.

Mala warned that the state budget deficit has to be taken into account, but that the cost to taxpayers will likely be lower than the increase because of a nearly $3 million reimbursement from the state for taking Hartford students into Avon Public Schools.
