Revised English, Math Curricula Proposals Before Board of Ed Tuesday Evening

The English & mathematics curricula proposals for Kindergarten through Grade 8 may be voted on at the Board of Education's October meeting.

A public letter emailed by Avon Superintendent of Schools Gary Mala on Tuesday:

Dear Parents, Staff and Concerned Citizens:

I am again pleased to communicate with you and hope you are enjoying a productive week. As many of you are aware, the school district continues to maintain a comprehensive curriculum review and revision process that commenced approximately two years ago and has most recently gained national recognition for its content, rigor and format.

This process has included all staff in the district in various capacities and has resulted in documents of which we can all be very proud.

The first of many revised curriculum documents will be presented to the members of the Board of Education this evening. The revised Kindergarten through Grade 8 English Language Arts and Mathematics curricula will be subject to review with the Board of Education with a possible formal action to approve the documents at its October meeting.
