In May 2013, Quaker Jay O’Hara and a friend anchored their small boat in Fall River, MA, blocking the arrival of a coal shipment to New England’s largest coal-fired power plant. (see LobsterBoatBlockade.org)
As their trial was set to begin this week, the District Attorney made the dramatic decision to drop all criminal charges and announced that the activists were right: “We’re at a crisis point with climate change.” (see Boston Globe article: http://bit.ly/1AvArWU)
Now O’Hara is sailing to New York City to participate in the People’s Climate March (www.peoplesclimate.org) on September 21, stopping in Connecticut towns to share his story, engage communities in dialogue about climate change.
People who wish to participate in the march can purchase discount Metro-North tickets at CTClimateTrain.org.
