Skygazing: Rhythm, Sound & Stars | Thursday, May 26, 2016

Fun for the whole family at the Talcott Mountain Science Center! Observe the night sky and other activities at the top of Talcott Mountain.

Begin the evening with an assortment of fun, family-friendly, hands-on activities that explore rhythm and sound; and try your hand at drumming on the sundial with our special guest, Susan Strand, while enjoying a breathtaking view of the Farmington Valley at sunset. They’ll be instruments to share and we encourage everyone to join in. No rhythm required!

Afterwards, we'll move into the Captain Alan M. Bean Hypospherium for a tour of the celestial bodies that will be visible to us in the night sky. Then, when the skies have darkened, we'll head to our final skygazing destination atop Talcott Mountain. With a wide array of telescopes at our disposal, we’ll be looking for stars, planets (including Mars and Jupiter) and other celestial gems.

Event takes place at the Talcott Mountain Science Center, 324 Montevideo Road, Avon. Program begins at 7:30pm. Event takes place rain or shine. If sky conditions precludes nighttime observing, all attendees will receive free admission to a future event.
