Upcoming Events at Avon Library

The following events are part of the Changing America series of exhibits, programs and films that examine landmark events in American history from The Emancipation Proclamation, January 1, 1863 to the March in Washington, August 8, 1963. The Changing America project is hosted by the Avon Public Library November 1 throughDecember 13. All events are free, no registration is required. Harlem Renaissance Gallery Exhibit: “A Dream Deferred.” Sights, sounds, and icons from 1920’s African American culture in New York. Open during regular library hours through December 13.

Monday, 11/10, 7pm, African Americans in Connecticut, book event and lecture with authors Stacey Close and Elizabeth Normen

Thursday, 11/13, 1:30 pm & 6:00 pm, film screening: Twenty Feet From Stardom, rated PG-13, 91 minutes, part of the Changing America Film Series

Saturday, 11/15, 1pm, “Selling Race on Screen,” a program to accompany Changing America Film Series presented by Dr. Karen Ritzenhoff, CCSU
