Update: Fire Destroys Avon Condo

At 2:17 p.m. (Wednesday) the Avon Fire Department was alerted to a structure fire on Sweetbriar Lane in the Farmington Woods section of Avon.

Due to the close proximity to Unionville, Tunxis Hose Fire Department was automatically dispatched to the scene as well. The first unit on scene found heavy fire in a multi-unit condo complex and initiated an attack on the fire.

Firefighters from the Town of Farmington were called to the scene and firefighters from the Town of Simsbury were asked to respond to cover Avon’s stations during operations.

Firefighters had the fire under control around 3:30 and were overhauling the affected areas. We would like to thank all of the firefighters on scene for the effort and swift action that they took in the extremely cold environment.
