VFW Post 3272 Offering Program on 'Project HEAL' for Vets
"Project HEAL" is designed to meet the needs of Veterans living with injuries and stress.

AVON, CT — The Avon VFW Post 3272 is inviting all military veterans to attend its monthly dinner
meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 26th to hear a presentation by Dale and Lu Picard, founders
and directors of ECAD, or Educated Canines Assisting with Disabilities organization.
The Educated Canines Assisting with Disabilities program “Project HEAL” is designed
to meet the needs of Veterans living with physical injuries, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and/or Traumatic Brain Injury.

ECAD, founded in 1995, is currently consolidating and expanding their training facility campus in Torrington to better provide the benefits of the human-canine bond as it fulfills its mission.
The Picards, along with Tuna (their educated golden retriever), will introduce their
mission statement “to educate and place Service Dogs with people with disabilities to lead
lives with more independence and mobility.”

The monthly meetings of the post take place at the Prince Thomas of Savoy Society (Italian
Club), 32 Old Farms Road, Avon. The social hour and dinner begins at 6 p.m.
The Project HEAL presentation will start at 7:15 p.m. The cost of the dinner is $10 per person. There is no
charge to attend the presentation.
