The annual conference is made by possible by the generosity of Dr. Marie S. Gustin, distinguished educator, psychologist and former Superintendent of Schools for the Consolidated School District of New Britain. Gustin endowed this lecture series through a major gift to the Hospital for Special Care Foundation in 2008. In making her gift, Dr. Gustin honored the memory of her parents, Susie and Charles Gustin, who in her words, “walked the path of life with courage and dignity, high principles and the spirit of generosity.” A former trustee of Hospital for Special Care, Dr. Gustin continues to serve in numerous leadership capacities within the Greater Hartford Region and beyond.

The conference will be of interest to staff nurses, charge nurses, managers, nurses in academia, social workers, therapists and other healthcare professionals. Nursing contact hours will be provided. This conference is hosted by the Hospital for Special Care in collaboration with its partners, The Hospital of Central Connecticut, Central Connecticut State University and Sigma Theta Tau International, Iota-Upsilon at Large Chapter (Nursing Honor Society).
