'The Bakery' Returns to Berlin
The relatives of the Sanremo Bakery founders have started a new venture featuring old-family recipes, just like you remember.

What was old is new again in Berlin. For aficionados of all things baked Italian, a relative of Sanremo Bakery founders has opened a new outpost in town.
Berlin Mayor Rachel Rochette joined owner Enzo Formica to cut the ribbon to mark the opening of “The Bakery” at 226 Berlin Turnpike in Berlin on Monday.
Formica said, “I am proud to be opening “The Bakery” to carry on a 32-year family tradition. My grandfather started Sanremo Bakery in Berlin and passed the business on to my Uncle Santo. Earlier this year Sanremo Bakery decided to close its retail location on Farmington Avenue in order to concentrate on its growing wholesale business that is focused on high-quality fresh baked breads.”

Formica added, “I have been working in Sanremo Bakery all my life so I am taking this opportunity to open ‘The Bakery’ so that residents of Berlin and the central Connecticut area can again enjoy the bread, turnovers, pastries, pies and other specialty items that they have been purchasing at Sanremo Bakery for these many years. I invite all fans of Sanremo’s Bakery to visit ‘The Bakery.’ I think that you will be happy to see our familiar selection of some of the best breads and pastries in the area.”
Rochette welcomed Formica and The Bakery to the Berlin business community.

“Many citizens have commented to me that they missed Sanremo’s Bakery and wished for a new local retail bakery in Berlin,” Rochette said. “This is like a holiday present for the Town, not only are we getting a new bakery, but it also has the familiar products that we have enjoyed for many years. I thank Enzo for bringing his family’s special baked goods back to Berlin and I wish him great success in his new venture.”
