Major Insurer Honored By Prominent Statewide Youth Nonprofit In Hartford
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Connecticut honored Bloomfield-based The Cigna Group as its 2026 Partner of the Year.

HARTFORD, CT — Big Brothers Big Sisters of Connecticut has named The Cigna Group its 2026 Partner of the Year, recognizing the Bloomfield-based company's support of youth mentoring programs in Hartford.
The award was presented during the organization's Big Night celebration last month in Hartford, which brought together mentors, students, families and community partners from across the state.
The Cigna Group supports a school-based mentoring program at Annie Fisher Montessori School in Hartford.

The initiative has grown to serve 21 students and pairs them with employee volunteers who meet weekly during the school day.
Mentors assist students through activities including homework help, arts and crafts, games, sports, group projects, and guest speaker sessions.

“Our partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Connecticut reflects the kind of impact we strive for: community-led, relationship-driven, and rooted in trust,” said Sara Quist, director of community programs at The Cigna Group. “We’re grateful for the recognition, but even more inspired by the opportunity to support an organization that creates meaningful connections for young people.”
The award was accepted by Community Programs Manager Joanna Engel of West Hartford, along with employee mentors Louie Grinfeld, Bryan Berry of Windsor, and Agata Switalska of West Hartford.
“This partnership reflects shared values, showing up locally, building trust, and investing in people for the long term,” Engel said. “We’re honored to stand alongside Big Brothers Big Sisters of Connecticut in advancing this work and continually inspired by the mentors who dedicate their time to building lasting relationships.”
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Connecticut's site-based mentoring program matches students with adult volunteers who meet consistently at school to help build confidence, strengthen social skills and support personal growth.
BBBSCT President and CEO Andy Fleischmann of West Hartford praised The Cigna Group's involvement in the program.
“We’re grateful to The Cigna Group,” Fleischmann said. “Their team members are consistent, committed, and caring. They’re great partners who are changing lives through mentoring.”
The annual Big Night event was emceed by former Channel 3 Eyewitness News anchor Alleah Red.
Sponsors included The Cigna Group, Hartford HealthCare, Flanagan Agency for Farmers Insurance, Alforboarding Dog BnB and Frankie’s Family Restaurant.
