Berlin's Carasiti Makes Eastern League Postseason All-Star Team

The right-handed pitcher is currently playing for the Colorado Rockies of the National League.

HARTFORD, CT — Three Hartford Yard Goats players have been named to the 2016 Eastern League Postseason All-Star Team, including Connecticut native Matt Carasiti.

The three selections are the most for any club in the Eastern League.

Carasiti, a Berlin High School graduate, slammed the door shut on teams all season, collecting a league-leading 29 saves while recording 43 strikeouts and a 2.31 ERA in 48 games for the Yard Goats this season. He was rewarded for that performance with a promotion to Triple-A Albuquerque on July 25.

He made six scoreless appearances with Albuquerque before being promoted to the Colorado Rockies, where he made his major league debut on August 12 at Philadelphia. He earned his first big league victory Aug. 19 in an 11-inning 7-6 win over the Chicago Cubs, and had appeared in 12 games through Sept. 13..

Carasiti was a member of the Eastern Division roster for the 2016 Eastern League All-Star Game in Akron and was also voted as the “Best Reliever” in the Eastern League this season in the Baseball America Best Tools rankings.

Outfielder Raimel Tapia and right-handed pitcher German Marquez joined Carasiti as All-Star selections from the Yard Goats.

The Eastern League Postseason All-Star Team is voted on by Eastern League managers, coaches and media personnel. There are only 13 positions on the team.
