Residents, family members, and staff at Middlewoods of Newington Assisted and Independent Living community gathered together for carnival celebrations of all kinds on Wednesday, May 14th. The community hosted The Little “E”, a miniature version of The Big “E” event, with furry animal friends, stilt walkers, clowns, jugglers, fried dough, cotton candy, funnel cakes, and fun for all. A visit from the Sharon Family Farm in Tolland gave residents the opportunity to hold and pet a variety of farm animals, including a goat, pig, rabbit, duck, chicken, sheep, donkey, and alpaca. Evening activities included entertainment by the Matica Arts group, a performing arts company dedicated to the moving arts and circus. Residents posed for photos with a hula-hooping stilt walker and enjoyed a variety of juggling acts, even trying out some tricks themselves.
This was the second time the community hosted the successful event, which won a Best Practices award from the Connecticut Assisted Living Association (CALA) this past year. The event was organized by Activities Director, Lynn Tracey, and the Middlewoods of Newington team of staff and volunteers. Residents were thrilled to be able to enjoy the carnival experience from the comfort of their home! For photos of the event, check out our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/MiddlewoodsofNewington
