MOORELAND HILL SCHOOL ANNOUNCES GRADUATES AND CLASS AWARDS

Seven local students make up school's 84th graduating class.

Mooreland Hill School held its 84th graduation ceremony on June 9 conferring certificates and class awards on seven students. The event, which included faculty, alumni, family and supporters of the school, was held on the grounds of the campus located in the Kensington section of town.

The graduates come from five surrounding towns and are moving on to four private and public high schools in the fall. Lydia Gambacini of Southington, who earned the highest grade average in Latin, French, and English, will attend Miss Porter’s School in Farmington, Conn. Gabrielle Brewer of New Britain, who received the Citizenship Award, will also attend Miss Porter’s School. Sarah Tomasco of Southington, who earned the Class of 1982 Spirit Award and the Math Award, will attend Westover School in Middlebury, Conn. Stephen Palluotto of Middletown, who received the Athlete of the Year Award, will attend Chase Collegiate School in Waterbury, Conn. Shannon Martin of Bristol, who also received the Athlete of the Year Award, will attend Westover School. Shannon is the last of four children from her family to graduate from Mooreland Hill. Emilie Hart of Newington, who earned the Drama Award, will attend Westover School. Andrew Rothauser of Newington will attend Newington High School.

“Each of these graduates worked extremely hard to meet our high academic standards, while participating in many extra-curricular activities and events,” said Nora Johnson, acting head of school. “We know they are well prepared for the next step in their education and in their lives and we look forward to hearing about their future accomplishments.”
