BERLIN, CT—One of Berlin's newer eateries is hosting a special event to commemorate not only its entry onto the local restaurant scene but the fall harvest season as well.

The Farmers Cow Calfé (yes, the restaurant's name plays off the cow/café theme) opened over the summer at 1241 Farmington Ave., Berlin.

Now, to celebrate, the café is hosting its "Harvest Festival" on Saturday, Oct. 19, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The free celebration will feature "a day of fun, food, and festivities as we celebrate the bounty of the season."

Of course, the Farmers Cow Calfé's agricultural theme to this event is appropriate, as the eatery is owned by a cooperative of six Connecticut-based farms.

It started about two decades ago as a means to sell the farms' milk and eggs and has now evolved to include a chain of restaurants showcasing menu items with farm-produced ingredients.

In addition to selling Farmers Cow products (milk, eggs, ice cream, etc.), the "calfé" has available soups, salads, wraps, and sandwiches.

The "Harvest Festival" will also have local vendors selling their wares and handicrafts as well as a pumpkin painting program.
