Pro Baseball Team Holding Player Tryouts, National Anthem Auditions

NEW BRITAIN, CT - With the return of professional baseball to the New Britain/Berlin line less than three weeks ago, management of the New Britain Bees franchise of the Atlantic League has scheduled player tryouts and national anthem auditions.

Player tryouts

Open tryouts for adults age 18 and older will be held Tuesday, April 12 from 6 to 8 o.m. at New Britain Stadium. All tryout attendees are required to bring a $50 non-refundable registration fee. Players are required to bring their own equipment, including wooden bats, gloves, footwear and catching gear.

Representatives from the Bees will be present to scout and evaluate all prospects. Pitchers and field position players are welcome to try out. Collegiate athletes will not be allowed to participate, as doing so can compromise their NCAA eligibility.

National anthem auditions

The team will host the first-ever “Anthem Idol” to find national anthem singers on Saturday, April 9. The event will take place at New Britain Stadium from 9 a.m. to noon.

Performances must be done a capella with a time limit of one minute and 30 seconds. Anthem lyrics must be sung from memory, and instrumentalists or other unique performers are encouraged to participate as well. No tapes will be accepted. Performers will be judged by members of the Bees’ front office staff.
