Bethel Appoints Charter Commission
The Board of Selectmen has named seven residents to the new board.

BETHEL, CT — The Bethel town charter, last reviewed in 2013, will be getting the once-over again as the Board of Selectmen has appointed several residents to a commission empowered to examine it. The charter must be reviewed every five years, by law, the News-Times is reporting.
Joyce Hess, Melanie O' Brien, John Lennon, Sharon Straiton, Patrick Perrefort, Theresa Letellier and Nicholas Hoffman have been appointed to the new Charter Commission.
The commission could examine rules that dictate who can serve on certain boards or alter the requirement to hold a referendum for expenditures costing more than $1 million, First Selectman Matt Knickerbocker had said when the commission was established last year.
