Bethel Elementary Schools Take Step Toward Renovations: Report

Residents voted to approve the preliminary work on the proposal to renovate the schools.

BETHEL, CT — In a vote Tuesday night, Bethel residents voted to approve the funding for the next phase of a renovation project at two of the town's elementary schools, reports the News Times.

Residents voted 43-1 to approve $140,000 for preliminary work on the proposal to renovate Rockwell and Johnson elementary schools. The Rockwell school was last renovated in 1977 and the Johnson school was last renovated in 1980.

The district can obtain a cost estimate, renderings, soil testing and more with the funding. With that information, the town would be able to apply for a state construction grant, which would reimburse the town for a significant portion of the project.
