Bethel Man, 20, Charged with DUI After Hit and Run: Police

Police say the man was seen pulling into a nearby apartment complex

DANBURY, CT — A Bethel man was charged with driving under the influence after police say he fled the scene of an accident in Danbury on Feb. 21, according to Danbury Police.

Vinicius Soares Holanda, 20, is accused of striking another driver with his car as it was turning from Hoyt Street onto Rose Hill Avenue. The victim of the crash was able to get Holanda's plate number after he was seen pulling into a nearby apartment complex.

Police were able to track Holanda down, who allegedly failed the standardized field sobriety tests.

He was charged with driving under the influence, evading responsibility and failure to obey a stop sign. He was later released on a $1,000 bond and is due to appear in Danbury Superior Court on March 7.
