Bethel Police Arrest Log For Feb. 16-28

BETHEL, CT — Assault and DUI were at the top of the Bethel Police Department's arrest log as February came to a close.
On Feb. 22, police responded to a report of a disturbance at a Benson Road home involving two residents, over accusations of a stolen knife. One complainant told police that James Buckmaster, 43, had placed his hand around her neck and tried to push her down a flight of stairs.
Police charged Buckmaster with third-degree assault and held him on a $20,000 bond. He was scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court the next day.

On Feb. 23, at around 12:23 in the morning, the Bethel Police Department responded to a single-vehicle accident on Stony Hill Road. During their investigation, police say they determined that Tanner Shafer, 23, was driving under the influence of alcohol.
In addition to DUI, police charged Shafer with failure to drive right, making an improper turn, driving the wrong way on a one way street, and driving without a license. Shafer was scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court later the same day.
