Bethel Police Arrest Log For Sept. 15-21

BETHEL, CT — Larceny, disturbing the peace, and motor vehicle charges were at the top of the Bethel Police Department's blotter the past week.
At around 5:33 p.m. on Sept. 15, police responded to a report of a larceny at the Target store at 7 Stony Hill.
Officers located the suspect, Jordan Abernathy, 26, of Avalon Valley Drive in Danbury, and charged him with sixth-degree larceny.

Abernathy was released on a promise to appear at Danbury Superior Court on Sept. 26.
On Sept. 20 at 7:10 in the morning, Bethel police discovered there was an active warrant for the arrest of a man they had pulled over. Luis Miguel Batista-Ortiz, 32, of Wooster Street in Danbury, had been cited for failing to appear in court.

The officers took Batista-Ortiz into custody and charged him with driving under a suspended license, for which he was scheduled to appear at Danbury Superior Court on Sept. 28. For the prior charge of failing to appear in court, he was scheduled to appear back at court in Danbury the next day as well. Batista-Ortiz was released after posting a court-set 10 percent cash bond of $250.
At about 11:15 p.m. on Sept. 17, police responded to 26 Reservoir Street for a report of a disturbance. Officers charged Iris Souza-bezerra, 40, of Main Street in Bridgeport, with disorderly conduct and risk of injury to a minor.
Souza-bezerra was released on a $15,000 surety bond, and was scheduled to appear at Danbury Superior Court on Sept. 18.
On Sept. 19 at 8:24 a.m. on Plumtrees Road while conducting traffic enforcement, police pulled a vehicle over for an expired registration. Further investigation revealed the driver's license was suspended, according to police. Katharine Brodski, 43, of Huntington Court in Bethel, was issued a misdemeanor summons for the above charge and scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on Sept. 28.
