Bethel Residents Brawl with Baseball Bat and Machete: Police

One woman took the baseball bat to the other suspect's BMW, according to police.

BETHEL, CT — Police broke up a fight between two residents, one brandishing a machete, the other a baseball bat, over the weekend.

Three officers were called upon to restore the peace at around 3:50 a.m. Saturday on Juniper Road, according to a release. One officer witnessed Jeimy Mendez, 19, of Bethel, smashing the window of a BMW with a baseball bat. Police also detained Bethel resident Rory Rodriguez-Nunez, 27, who was waving a machete, according to police.

Before police arrived, Rodriguez-Nunez used the flat side of the machete to leave a red mark on Mendez's hip, for which Mendez retaliated on Rodriguez-Nunez's BMW.

Police charged Mendez with third-degree criminal mischief, while Rodriguez-Nunez with breach of peace, third-degree assault and possession of a dangerous weapon.
