Bethel Residents Send $79.4 Million Budget to Referendum

Some residents are questioning allocating $979,000 for a new turf field.

BETHEL, CT --- Residents of Bethel sent the proposed operating budgets of $29.8 million for the town and $45.1 million for the schools to referendum Monday night at a packed Town Hall meeting, the News-Times is reporting.

The capital budget included $979,000 to install new turf at DeSantis Field, an expenditure which some residents questioned in light of of the nearly $889,000 in overruns involving the new police station project.
